Cockfield War Memorial
The Cockfield War Memorial is located to the south of the main road leading through the village. It was unveiled in 1922 by Mr. Hustler-Hustler Chairman of the North Bitchburn Coal Company in place of Lord Gainford. The memorial was dedicated by Rev. J.W. Scudamore of Cockfield. It takes the form of a cross of Kennay Granite on a plinth and cost £253. There are 46 names.
The text and names are as follows:
“To the glory of God and in thankful remembrance of the men of this Parish who gave their lives for us in the Great War 1914 – 1918”
