Robert CROW 1908 – 1944

14217592 Lance Corporal Robert Crow, 19 Field Security Section, Intelligence Corps died 27 September 1944 aged 36. He is buried at West Auckland cemetery[1] and commemorated on West Auckland War Memorial.

Family Details

Robert Crow was born 13 September 1908[2], the son of Robert William and Lavinia Crow and the brother of William.  In 1911, he, his 2 months old brother and mother were recorded as visitors to Robert and Alice Crow and their family at Kepier Terrace, Durham.[3]  His father has not been traced.

In 1934, Robert married Bertha Preshous.[4]  In 1939, Robert and Bertha lived at Garden House, Auckland Terrace, Shildon.  Robert is recorded as working as “Permanent Investigating Clerk for Unemployment Assistance”.[5]

His death was registered in Westmoreland North in 1944. [6] The probate register records that he and Bertha lived at 22 Richard Terrace, Coronation, Bishop Auckland and he died on war service.[7]

The service details of Lance Corporal Robert Crow have not been researched.

Robert Crow is buried at grave reference Row F. plot 35 West Auckland Cemetery.  His headstone bears the following epitaph
