John William Watson was born 19 August 1897 at Cockfield to Thomas and Diana Watson.  In 1901 the family lived at 24 Burnt Houses.  He attended Cockfield C. of E. School then the County School. In 1911 they lived at 4 Raby Moor, Burnt Houses.
