Robert Trewick was born in Seghill, Northumberland in October 1876. In 1881 he was living at 1 Double Row, Seaton Delaval with parents John and Margaret, and 5 older siblings. In 1897, he started as a certified assistant at Cockfield C.E. Mixed School and in 1901 lodged with George and Mary Ann Dixon, and their daughter Drusilla at 40 Main Street, Cockfield. His occupation was assistant schoolmaster. In 1902 he married Drusilla, and in 1911 they live at The Villas in Cockfield with their son George, born 5th February 1903. Also living there was his father in law, George, a widower.
In the school records, Robert attends 13 family funerals including his wife’s who dies in autumn 1915.
8 December 1915 he joined 9/DLI [service no.6458] aged 39. His address was 20 Coronation Terrace, Cockfield. 30 April 1916, Robert left Cockfield become head teacher at Trimdon. 29 July 1916 he was mobilized and posted but 2 April 1917 he was transferred to a reservist Class W on account of ill health and teachers being sent back to school. 19 January 1918, he was discharged, address now 2 Balmoral Terrace, Trimdon Grange. He died in 1963 aged 87.
