Harry George Buttle 1898-1976
K50318 Stoker H.G. Buttle RN was born 1898 at Cockfield the son of Francis [Frank] and Alice, his father being a coal miner. In 1907, he attended Cockfield Council School joining from the C of E School. He left school in July 1912. In March 1918, aged 19, he joined the Royal Navy as a Stoker training at HMS Victory. He served aboard HMS King George V from November 1918 and was demobbed 11th February 1919. He received British War Medal. He died September 1976, lived in Doncaster.
