Harold TALLENTIRE 1901 – 1945

13107828 Private Harold Tallentire, Pioneer Corps died 26 October 1945 aged 44.  He is buried at West Auckland cemetery,[1] commemorated on West Auckland War Memorial and the Church Lads Brigade Memorial in St. Helen’s Church, St. Helen’s Auckland, Bishop Auckland.

Family Details

Harold Tallentire was born c.1901, the son of John and Mary Elizabeth Tallentire and brother to Isabella, Joseph, Sarah and Mabel.  In 1911, the family lived at Toft Hill and John worked as a miner [hewer].[2]

Service Details

The service details of Private Harold Tallentire have not been researched and the circumstances surrounding hid death are unknown.  His death is registered at Droitwich, Worcestershire[3] therefore it is presumed that he died there while still in military service.

Private Harold Tallentire is buried at grave reference F.81, West Auckland cemetery.  His headstone bears the following epitaph:
