Thomas Featherstone WELSH 1912 – 1942

 Private T/213179 Thomas “Tot” Featherstone Welsh, the Royal Armed Service Corps died 17 December 1942 aged 30.[1]  He is buried at home in Evenwood Cemetery.

Family Details

Thomas Featherstone Welsh was born 4 September 1912[2], the son of Robert and Julia Welsh and brother to Norah, Robert [Bob] W., Harry, Sarah [3] and George, John James, Gibson.[4]   In 1939, the family lived at 13 Swan Street, Evenwood and Thomas is recorded as working as a Government Works Assistant [or draughtsman’s labourer].[5]

 The service record of Private Thomas F. Welsh has not been researched.

17 December 1942:  It is understood that he contracted meningitis and died in the Mitchell Laithes Isolation Hospital, Earlsheaton, near Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.[6]
